With news this big, we needed our good friend Tim to help us get the word out. Starting January 1, Justin will begin serving as president of Caribbean School of Theology.
Dave Ellis, Regional Director for LAC, oversees all AGWM missionaries and ministries in Latin America and the Caribbean. A couple weeks ago he asked if we would be willing to step into this new role. We are honored and humbled by this opportunity to serve. When we transferred to Curaçao from Belgium last year we had no idea that this is where God was leading us.
“A man’s heart plans his way,
But the LORD directs his steps.”
(Proverbs 16:9)
As we enter into Thanksgiving Week, our hearts are full as we think of and pray for all the wonderful people who have journeyed with us. We could not do what we do without your prayers and support.
Answers to some questions you may have:
Will you still live in Curaçao?
Yes! When we were first presented with this opportunity, we expressed our desire to lead the ministry from the Caribbean. It has been operating out of Springfield, MO for many years. We are developing a plan to help transition the school and a core team to Curaçao.
What countries does Caribbean School of Theology serve?
As of right now, CST officially serves the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Belize, Jamaica, Guyana, and Suriname. We are currently developing a new initiative to begin serving the Dutch Caribbean (six islands, including Curaçao). We are also in conversation with a number of other countries that are interested in partnering with us.
Will you still teach classes? What else will you be doing?
Yes! Justin’s heart has always been in the classroom and this new role will allow him to continue to teach. In addition, he will also provide vision and oversight to the school and its staff. CST is blessed to have a wonderful group of dedicated and passionate educators. We look forward to working closely with them to help train the next generation of pastors and ministry leaders in the Caribbean.
Will you have to travel more?
A key aspect of this new role is developing relationships with the national church leaders from across the Caribbean. This will require more travel throughout the region as he will be teaching students and meeting with pastors and leaders.
Here’s how you can pray
First, please continue to pray with us for our finances. We have been working hard to increase our financial support. A huge thank you to all those who have given generously. This new role will require more travel and a higher budget. Pray with us for God’s provision.
Second, pray with us for clear vision from the Holy Spirit. We are trusting Him to help and guide us as we seek to advance God’s Kingdom throughout the Caribbean.
Third, pray with us for more workers. We need people with a passion to reach the islands to come and join us. We are looking for Bible teachers, administrative support, and even part-time volunteers who can help with aspects such as website development and marketing.
